How did you get started in racing?
been a lifelong dream of mine to race! When I was a very young
kid, I had a gokart and beside our house I made a track in the
field. I would run that thing every chance I could! I would
plan and act out races in my mind ;-) In the Summer of 2011, I
kept bugging my wife about racing and would tell her that I wish I knew
how we could get started. I mentioned to her about dwarf cars and
I had found out about Dwarf Car Racing Series of Texas (DCRST) and
threw the idea out to my wife about maybe looking for one. One
day we were looking online and found one cheap and close to us so I
went to look at it, called my wife and got the OK and brought it
home! It needed a lot of work and had been sitting outside in the
weather for 15 years! The guy who had it didn't even realize what
he had...he thought it was something like a gokart! So, in March
of 2012, I made my racing debut racing a dwarf with DCRST and was
awarded DCRST Rookie of the Year and Thunderhill Raceway Rookie of the
Year. In 2012, I had 5 race WINS, two second place finishes, one
3rd place finish and four-fifth place finishes out of 19 races.
2013, I again raced with the DCRST series and competed in 20 races from
March through November, traveling all over Texas. Out of 27 Drivers, I
placed 6th in the 2013 DCRST Final Race Standings. Out of the 20 races,
I had 9 Top 5 Finishes with 4 Feature Race wins and 2 Heat Race wins.
2014, I will be racing a limited modified with the Texas Asphalt
Limited Modified Series (TALMS). TALMS is a new racing series that was
developed in 2013. TALMS promotes Sport/Limited Modified Race Car
Drivers from South and Central Texas and is traveling racing series.
Whats the most enjoyable thing about racing?
enjoy making the race exciting for the fans to watch!
What division do you race in and what tracks do you race at?
I drive a limited modified with the Texas Asphalt Limited Modified
Series (TALMS). This season, TALMS will race at Central Texas
Speedway, Corpus Christi Speedway and Houston Motorsports Park.
Who are some your
favorite drivers to race against?
I just enjoy racing against drivers that race clean but hard at the

Tell us a little
about your car and team.
My team is Davis Racing and consists of
Davis and my wife
and I. We make a
good team! We hope to expand someday, either add more drivers to
our team or perhaps drive for someone else, another car owner. We
are racing a sport modified this season. It used to be a dirt car
and has been converted to run on asphalt. Motor: Chevy 350
with a power glide; Chasis: Smiley's Racing Chasis
Tell us about your
sponsors and how can people can help you this season?
Covert Chevrolet, Buick, GMC of Bastrop, TX
Riley's Welding (Owner Tommy Riley, La Grange, TX)
Sanford Electric Services (Owner Bobby Sanford, Georgetown, TX)
John C Calhoun (my wife's Grandfather who just turned 89; he is our
biggest fan and supporter and we couldn't have done this without him!!)
We are in search of more Sponsors for the 2014 Racing Season.
Is there any race
that sticks in your mind from the past, and why?
Had a race at Shady Oaks Speedway in Goliad, TX in the dwarf and I took
the lead with 5 laps to go. I had it in the bag for the fourth
win in a row until I got dive-bombed entering into turn 3! Still
finished in 3rd but I was pretty ticked off!!
If you had to pick
a NASCAR driver to compare your driving style to who would it be and
Mark Martin...Because I race hard but clean! i don't wreck a guy
to win a race. if another guy's car is faster, I realize that and
will be fine with it. I have I read before, somewhere, that Mark
Martin is like that as well so that is why I chose him. Oh ya, I
like lifting weights a lot too...like Mark Martin :-)
