How did you get started in racing?
I got started racing cars in the mid nineties. I got laid off from a job in a distillery and I used that money to buy a race ready car, although I had no clue how to work on it.... I learned. I watched my uncle religiously on the 8 at the Fairgrounds, Sportsdrome, and Charlestown in the 70's and 80's.

When you are not racing what do you do for fun?
When I'm not racing.... I work... and/or spend time with my son and friends... all other time is spent working on race stuff. I'm hopeing to sell my Xtreme8 car soon and just concentrate on the modified 8 car I have.

How has 2013 been for you?
This season has been fun in the Xtreme car at the Sportsdrome, I really should have parked it a while back, and put more effort into the modified, but I am enjoying the racing this year more so than years past for some reason.

Fiqure 8 racing probly one of the most exciting type of racing for a fan to watch. So as a driver what made you want to do this?
Figure 8 racing is exciteing. That is all I have done for the past '20' years or so. I have no desire to race oval. Seems boring. It takes a lot of time and work to get a Figure 8 car for competition. Checkup/preventive maintenance is a must and the car is scaled and front end geometry is checked before each time out along with serviceing/working tires. Most of which is done by me, although I do have some good friends who are willing to help.

If somebody asked you for advice for their first time in fiqure 8 car what would you tell them?
If someone asked me for advice in Figure 8 racing I would say you have to be driven/have a passion for it and you have to be ready to work and spend money.

Tell us something about you that would surprise your fans.
Something that might surprise fans.....? All the guys I race with are my friends. I have the utmost respect for them and they're equipment. We are not at each others throats for real.

We would like to thank darrin for this interview. If you have a track in your home state that races figure 8's make sure you go watch them race you will be on the edge of your seat at all times!
