How did you get started in racing?
I've been around racing since I was in diapers.  I am the 3rd Generation of Drivers in my family.  My Paw Paw is the one who got the whole thing started.  He started racing in the late 1950's after his cousin asked him to practice his racecar for him because his driver was running late.  Long story short, Paw Paw was turning faster laps than who his cousin had driving the car.  That's when he got hooked.  So the next day him and his cousin went behind his cousins house and drug out an old 41' Chevrolet Coupe.  Thus, the beginning of a tradition in which he had no idea he was creating.  After his first son, Frankie Martin (My Uncle) was getting old enough to race he stopped because he was afraid he might want to drive, well, it was too late. He wanted a ride!  Soon after my Uncle Frankie was driving, Paw Paws 2nd son, Barry Martin (My Dad) wanted to race as well.  Frankie has raced for 43 years and my dad 33.  Between the two of them they have won over 500+ races each!  Dad works at Barry's Performance Machine Shop where he works on and builds race motors, that's where I spend most of my time when I'm not in school.  Also my two cousins on my moms side, Tristan and Zane Morgan race.  Along with my other uncle, Nathan Davis and my granddad (My Moms Dad) Tony Davis.  Now for me, when I turned 15 years old and mom finally agreed to let me race, that's when I started.  She though I was going to start out in a lower class like a Buzz (FWD Car) or a Mini Modified.  But dad along with my other two uncles and cousin races Openwheel Modified's and I wanted to race in the biggest, fastest class as they did.  So when dad told her I was going to be racing in the Openwheel Modified and she asked "why?" Dad told her "because we already have a car." Racing has been a dream of mine for as far back as I can think!  I am currently 16 and love racing more than anything! I guess you could say racing is in my blood and always will be!

If you had to pick a NASCAR driver to compare your driving style to who would it be and why?
If I had to pick a NASCAR driver to compare my driving style to it would have to be Jimmie Johnson.  It would be him because I don't rough house people, I like to be patient and pass them clean.  By doing this you give and earn respect for each other on the racetrack.

Whats the most enjoyable thing about racing?
The most enjoyable thing about racing to me is the thrill of doing good in a race after a long week at the shop and the competition level that we race at.  Anyone on any given day can win in the Openwheel Modified's.  So when you pull off a win, there's nothing more satisfying then getting that trophy along with the sticker to put on your car!

What division do you race in and what tracks do you race at?
I race in the Openwheel Modified Division at Sayre Speedway.  In the two years I have been racing I have won the Championship in that division both years.  Each year I have received the best looking car award and the first year I raced I won Rookie of the Year.  I have also been to South Alabama Speedway to race and working on sponsor money to travel to different tracks more often.

Who are some your favorite drivers to race against?
Haha, well some of my favorite drivers to race against would have to be my Dad, Uncle Frankie, Uncle Nathan, and Cousin Tristan.  We all drive the Openwheel Modified Division and there's never a dull moment at the track or during the race.  Having this many family members in one race makes it very exciting and interesting, especially for the fans.

If you could switch rides with any driver in any type of racing which one would it be?
If I had to switch rides with any driver it would have to be Scott Bloomquist.  It would be him because he drives Dirt Late Model and I've never drove a dirt car before and I'd love to be able to experience the speed and the feel of the car on the dirt.

Is there any race that sticks in your mind from the past, and why?
The race that always sticks in my mind is when I came from the rear to win the race.  At Sayre, there is a rule to where if you win a race, the next week you have to start the rear.  Well I had won the week before and had to start in the back.  I love thinking back to this race because it shows that patience, strategy, and smoothness wins races.

When you are not racing what do you do for fun?
When I am not racing I enjoy playing Football and Working Out.  I am a Running Back for Corner High School and also play Defensive End and Linebacker.  I enjoy setting goals for myself to excel in the weight room just as I do at the racetrack.

What did you think about the NASCAR chase ths year?
I think the NASCAR Chase this year is awesome!  It makes it exciting for the fans and pushes the drives to excel and perform at their absolute best each race.

Is there anybody you would like to thank?
I would like to thank my Maw Maw and Paw Paw for always being there every race win or lose and for helping me keep up the car.  Also I'd like to thank my dad for helping me get to where I am at today in racing and in life.  If it wasn't for him I don't know what I would do.  Also my mom and sister for always being at every race and showing love and supporting me on whatever I do in life and for videoing all my races.  And everyone else who has helped me and supported me in my racing career!
