How did you get started in racing?
I got started in racing at age 8. I was actually planning on racing
four wheelers until we went to a race and saw a quad land on a kid. A
friend of my dad's talked us into racing a 1/4 midget and it was the
best advice we ever took.
What division do you race in and what
tracks do you race at?
I race a super dirt late model over the east coast at Winchester
Speedway in Winchester, Virginia, Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD
and various other tracks including Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex,
Port Royal Speedway, Bedford Speedway, and Natural Bridge.
You have mostly raced on asphalt, but
now you took on the dirt tracks. So what made you go that way?
Well we switched from asphalt to dirt as we wanted to get into
something different. Every kid tries to make a name for themselves on
asphalt so we thought why not try and make a name in the dirt series
against possible NASCAR team and driver owners.
What is your goal in racing?
To make it as profession of course, and to spend quality time
with my family and enjoy it as much as possible.
Of all the different type of race cars
you have drove, which one was the hardest for you to figure out?
I would definitely have to say the dirt late model. It is a
850hp, 2200lb, car trying to get traction in slick dirt. The driving
and set up is completely different than that of asphalt.
If you had to pick a NASCAR driver to
compare your driving style to who would it be and why?
I would say Kyle Busch. As it seems whether he jumps in a NASCAR truck
or car to a dirt late model, he can adapt quickly and that is how I am.
I can adapt to a track or car in a matter of a couple laps.
Is there any race that sticks in your
Yes. The 1/4 midget nationals in 2007 in Connecticut. I was in 2nd
place with a few laps to go and hit first place, only to spin him out
which forced me to go the rear of the field. I regret being impatient
as I could have won the championship.
Is there anything that would surprise
It is only my first year racing on dirt.
Tell us little bit about your race
team and crew?
My race team is very
close and we focus on achieving as much as possible both on and off the
track. We are a dedicated team whether its countless nights in the shop
to always trying to make the car faster at the track.
